    Description

    We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team in Carmel, California. In this role, you will oversee essential accounting functions, provide accurate financial reporting, and support compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires strong leadership skills and expertise in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Medi-Cal Billing teams to ensure efficient operations and accurate reporting.

    • Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

    • Oversee the budgeting process and develop financial forecasts while analyzing variances to provide actionable insights.

    • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain compliance with accounting regulations.

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting workflows.

    • Collaborate with the Executive Team and Program Managers to provide financial data and support strategic decision-making.

    • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.

    • Utilize QuickBooks extensively for both personal tasks and team oversight to ensure proper accounting practices.

    Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

     

    • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting roles.

    • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other financial software tools.

    • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff.

    • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, practices, and relevant regulations.

    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to prepare and interpret financial reports.

    • Effective communication skills to convey financial information to diverse stakeholders.

    • Prior experience in non-profit accounting is preferred.
