The role you'll contribute:

Assists surgical technologists by preparing operating rooms and appropriately arranging surgical equipment and supplies. This is a position for Surgical Technology Students prior to their graduation. It is a temporary position that concludes on the date of their graduation from the surgical technology program.

The value you'll bring to the team:

Under direct and constant supervision of a Certified Surgical Technologist or First Assistant the Surgical Technologist Assistant:

+ Ensures operating room is sterile

+ Field preparation and maintenance

+ Conducts instrument counts prior to surgical procedures

+ Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients

+ Provides patients with supportive care during pre-operative phases

+ Collects and labels specimens obtained during surgical procedures

+ Maintains surgical instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instrument counts throughout procedures

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

+ Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies

+ Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry

+ Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and local, state, and national laws

+ Completion of at least one semester of clinical in an accredited school of surgical technology required
