    Henry Ford Health Cancer Registry is seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate for their Lead Oncology Data Specialist position. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong oncology data management and abstracting skills, along with some leadership experience. Henry Ford Health’s Cancer Registry Team is planning to expand and grow over the next two years. Candidates with experience in teaching and training newly hired ODS-C are preferred. The Lead ODS-C is expected to assist with hiring, and be on the forefront of training and retaining new staff members along with overseeing day to day Registry Operations.

     

    Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Care or closely related field will be given preference.

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the Supervisor-Cancer Registry Data and Quality, the Lead Oncology:

    + Data Specialist-Certified (ODS-C) is responsible for overseeing and managing clinical cancer information, abstracting, and reporting data accurately, compliance with national cancer data and accreditation standards, and contributing to the overall improvement of cancer care quality and outcomes.

    + Utilizes an in-depth knowledge of oncology coding, staging, reporting standards and regulatory requirements, proficiency in data analysis tools and software, strong leadership skills and attention to detail.

    EDUCATION REQUIRED:

    + Associate's degree in Cancer Registry Management, healthcare information, or another related field.

    + Bachelor's degree in healthcare information or other healthcare related field preferred.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    + Five (5) years cancer registry experience as a Certified ODS (formerly Certified Tumor Registrar).

    + Strong understanding and proficiency in using electronic health records and cancer registry software (i.e., CRStar).

    + Prior experience with cancer accreditation (i.e., CoC, NAPBC) preferred.

    + Able to thrive in a remote work environment.

    + Self-motivated with critical attention to details and deadlines.

    + Excellent command of Computers and Computers Systems.

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

    + Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification.
