    Position Summary:

    Temporary full-time reading/writing instructor in the Transition Studies department. The ideal candidate will teach standalone developmental reading and writing courses, as well as integrated reading and writing courses for both domestic and international students.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Design and deliver engaging lessons to improve reading comprehension, critical thinking, and literacy skills.

     

    This role focuses on helping students, especially those who may need additional academic support, develop strategies for reading success in college level coursework. The faculty member hired for this role should expect a 15-hour workload per semester.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    Knowledge of English language structure, grammar and composition. Knowledge of current pedagogical methods in reading and English. Good oral and written communication skills.

    General Days/Hours:

    Monday - Friday

    8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    Regular and reliable attendance

    NOTE: This is a one year appointment.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in reading, English, English education, or related field and/or 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in reading, English, English education, or a related field.

     

    Experience with teaching developmental coursework in higher education is preferred but not required.
