We believe that a strong student culture focused on learning and mutual respect between students and adults is foundational to a strong school.  Teachers at Intrinsic consistently implement a school-wide behavior system designed to create such a culture.

Our Academic Model

Our academic model is unique and creates a very different and exciting place to work.   We provide diverse types of learning experiences such as Socratic seminars, small group instruction, hands-on labs and collaborative student projects. Team teaching is core to our model.  All math, ELA and Spanish teachers teach in teams where they plan together and work with students in larger spaces.  Teachers in other subjects are expected to plan collaboratively and often co-teach to support our special education and ESL students.  We use technology to personalize learning and to help students make deeper connections to content.  As a result of this structure, teachers are able to better assess and meet individual student needs.

Our Special Education Model

We individualize and personalize pathways for each student. We are committed to helping each student create the best plan based on his or her interests, skills, and values. We have a data-driven approach to identifying needs and deficits to determine appropriate accommodations and interventions. Finally, we believe families are a crucial part of the process and are committed to involving parents, families, and other influencers in the decision making process, while ensuring that the process continues to be student-driven.

Job Responsibilities

+ Follow all required compliance procedures for the IEP/evaluation/504 process, including scheduling, generating documentation, and timely completion of meetings

+ Serve as the primary case manager for assigned special education students.

+ Develop, write, and revise IEPs in collaboration with families, students, and the multidisciplinary team.

+ Coordinate and lead annual IEP meetings and required reevaluations.

+ Ensure compliance with IDEA, state laws, and district policies related to special education services and timelines.

+ Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, services, and support.

+ Collaborate with service providers, administrators, and external agencies as needed.

+ Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress reports, evaluation data, meeting notes, and service logs.

+ Consult with general education teachers to support accommodations, modifications, and behavior interventions.

+ Maintain professional, respectful communication with students, staff, families, and community members.

+ Attend staff meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development sessions.

Qualifications for Case Manager role

+ Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)

+ Valid state teaching certification in Special Education

+ LBS1 endorsement (required)

+ Organized and able to manage multiple projects, meet all deadlines and respond to action items in a timely manner

+ Proven experience teaching students with disabilities and managing IEPs

+ Strong knowledge of special education laws, instructional strategies, and assessment tools

+ Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills

+ Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment

+ Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the success of all learners

+ Sound judgment and discretion with respect to critical information and decisions
