Job Description

A retail employer in the Cincinnati area is seeking an Industrial Engineer for a 12 month contract (possible extensions/hire). This role supports a major warehouse centralization initiative, transitioning from 20+ regional parts warehouses to 5 strategically located facilities across the U.S. The Industrial Engineer will be instrumental in optimizing warehouse operations, implementing automation technologies like Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs), and improving inventory and logistics processes that support maintenance technicians at retail locations nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Optimization: Design and implement efficient layouts for receiving, shipping, and packaging areas in the new centralized warehouses.

Automation Integration: Evaluate and define what parts should be hand-picked vs. processed through VLMs and other automated systems (e.g., ASRS).

Inventory Management: Analyze inventory throughput and movement to ensure high-demand parts are easily accessible and well-stocked.

Logistics Efficiency: Develop strategies to optimize space utilization on technician trucks and streamline the picking process for warehouse staff.

Process Improvement: Apply engineering labor standards and lean methodologies to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.

Data-Driven Decisions: Use data analysis tools to support recommendations and monitor performance metrics.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with supply chain, warehouse operations, and field maintenance teams to align engineering solutions with business needs.

Skills and Requirements

- 3+ years of experience in supply chain, warehouse management, or manufacturing environments.

- Hands-on experience with VLMs, automation systems, and inventory throughput analysis.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar tools for layout and schematic design.

- Strong understanding of engineering labor standards and warehouse best practices. - Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

- Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, or other data analysis tools.

- Familiarity with Maximo or similar asset/inventory management systems.

- Exposure to logistics providers like FedEx and automated fulfillment systems (e.g., Ocado). null
