    Glimpse of the Job

     

    The Website Communications Specialist II will support the College of Arts and Sciences’ digital communications strategy by assisting with day-to-day website maintenance and content updates. This position will respond to website update requests, post news stories and content to existing web pages, and contribute to a variety of website-related projects that enhance the college’s online presence.

    Opportunities to Contribute:

    + Assist in maintaining and updating the college's website to ensure accuracy, functionality, and accessibility.

    + Respond to and resolve web content update tickets in coordination with the website team.

    + Assist with training or guiding users on web editing tools and best practices.

    + Apply university brand (visual identity and editorial style) and accessibility guidelines for all web content updates.

    + Post approved news stories, photos, and updated content to existing pages.

    + Conduct routine checks for broken links, outdated content, and formatting inconsistencies.

    + Proof, edit and update information on websites.

    + Collaborate on larger web content or design projects as assigned.

    + Support redesign projects or new website creation.

    + Coordinate with marketing team members on new pages as requested.

    + Collaborate with the website team to create and implement a website auditing schedule.

    + Attend and actively participate in team meetings, project meetings with internal clients, etc.

    + Communicate frequently with the marketing team.

    + Assist in developing and implementing the overall departmental communications plan.

    + Assist the team to ensure accessibility standards.

    + Identify and participate in the creation of skills development goals related to: HTML/CSS, CMS tools used in the college and at Texas A&M (Cascade, WordPress, Aggie UX, etc.), University branding and accessibility standards, technical writing for digital media, and Google analytics and accessibility.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Two years of website, communications and/or marketing experience, or other relevant experience.​

    A well-qualified candidate may also possess:

    + Basic knowledge of content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress or Cascade.

    + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are needed.

    + Strong interest in digital communications, marketing, or website development is needed.

    + Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a large team.

    + Demonstration of maturity, emotional intelligence, flexibility, and patience in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

    + Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

    + Excellent communication and presentation skills.

    + Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

    + Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.

    + Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.

    + Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes.

     

    Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
