Opportunity:

Virtual Service Operations is searching for an experienced AWS Security / ATO Specialist to join our dynamic IT team in Fort Meade, MD. This hybrid role requires candidates to work approximately 2–3 days per week on-site. In this role, you will support the security authorization of AWS cloud-based workloads by developing and maintaining compliance documentation, automating security controls, and integrating cloud audit data to meet ATO requirements under the MPO framework.

The project focuses on supporting security compliance and ATO (Authority to Operate) efforts for AWS cloud workloads in a classified environment. The role involves developing security documentation, automating compliance controls, and integrating AWS audit data to meet MPO and NIST requirements.

Qualifications:

Security Compliance & Frameworks:

+ Deep knowledge of NIST RMF and NIST SP 800-53

+ Experience authoring ATO (Authority to Operate) documentation and security artifacts

Cloud Security & Monitoring:

+ AWS Config – for compliance automation

+ Amazon CloudWatch & AWS CloudTrail – for monitoring logs and security events

+ Integration of cloud logs with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools

Automation & Scripting:

+ Python – for automating security tasks and compliance workflows

System Hardening:

+ Building and managing STIG-compliant AMIs and cloud resources

Additional Tools/Practices (Nice to Have):

+ Experience with continuous compliance monitoring tools

+ Familiarity with AWS security services like AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and IAM policies

Requirements

+ 7-9 years of professional experience supporting security compliance and ATO (Authority to Operate) efforts for AWS cloud workloads in a classified environment.

+ Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status.

+ An active Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) Security Clearance from MPO with a Greenbadgeis required.

+ Must be able to work approximately 2–3 days per week on-site in Fort Meade, MD.

Salary Description

$175,000.00 - $215,000.00 depending on experience
