Description
Amanda Warren is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join a real estate development and homebuilding team in Sacramento, California. This role requires a strong foundation in accounting practices, with an emphasis on cost accounting and project-based financial management. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting key financial operations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the general ledger by ensuring accuracy through journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Manage accounting for multiple projects, including job costing, cost capitalization, accounts payable, and related journal entries.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and assist in generating quarterly consolidated financial reports.
• Collaborate with the team to facilitate monthly loan draws and support annual tax return preparation.
• Contribute to potential financial statement reviews or audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and organizational policies.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies within accounting records to maintain integrity and accuracy.
• Provide timely and reliable financial data to support decision-making processes.
• Work closely with the controller and finance manager to ensure seamless execution of financial operations.
• Develop and maintain accounting procedures tailored to real estate and construction projects.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to job cost accounting and construction or real estate development.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, along with familiarity in accounting systems such as Hyphen Solutions.
• Strong analytical abilities paired with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks independently.
• Experience with month-end close processes, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and financial statement preparation.
• A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies effectively.
