Description
We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Seattle, Washington. In this hybrid (on-site primary) role, you will oversee a variety of tax-related tasks, including managing business licenses, preparing sales and use tax returns, and ensuring compliance with multi-state tax regulations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise in a dynamic and detail-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
• Renew and maintain business and contractor licenses, ensuring all certifications are uploaded to the appropriate systems.
• Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
• Conduct thorough reviews of invoices on taxable projects to identify and calculate any missing use taxes.
• Complete city business and occupation (B& O) tax returns by analyzing sales tax reports and revenue data.
• Reconcile public works projects by matching contract values to notices of completion and verifying tax reporting compliance.
• Assist with property tax filings by preparing asset listings, processing invoices, and updating records in fixed asset systems.
• Update and manage tax codes in financial systems, ensuring accurate rates for new locations or missing zip codes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with corporate tax provisions and multi-state tax requirements.
Requirements • Proven experience in tax management, including sales and use tax and multi-state tax compliance.
• Proficiency with tax software such as CCH ProSystem Fx, CCH Sales Tax, and Vertex Sales & Use Tax.
• Strong knowledge of corporate tax returns, partnership returns, and entity formation processes.
• Familiarity with managing business licenses and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Expertise in using financial systems like Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
• Ability to handle complex tax calculations and reconciliations with accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially when working with large datasets.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
