Description
Our client, a leading company in the Engineering & Construction sector, is seeking a General Ledger (GL) Accountant to join their growing team on a contract-to-hire basis in Downtown Houston. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Accounting leadership while contributing to exciting construction projects that have a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
+ Manage and maintain fixed assets accounting, including tracking, reporting, and reconciliations (role necessitated by a vacancy in the fixed assets team).
+ Assist with lease accounting, including analysis and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
+ Handle revenue recognition and ensure accounting complies with applicable policies.
+ Prepare prepaid entries and other recurring journal entries.
+ Support accounting for current construction projects, providing analysis and financial reporting to aid management decision-making.
+ Contribute to process improvements and ad hoc projects as assigned by Accounting leadership.

Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
+ 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in an Engineering & Construction environment or similar field.
+ Experience in lease accounting and fixed assets accounting is a significant plus.
+ Strong knowledge of accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
+ Well-rounded accounting background, highly detail-oriented, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
+ Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
