Description We are looking for an experienced and driven VP/Controller to lead the finance and accounting operations of a well-funded portfolio company in New York City, New York. This is a unique opportunity to take on a hands-on controllership role blended with FP& A responsibilities, directly supporting the co-founders and collaborating with the private equity firm. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting, partnership accounting expertise, and experience in real estate or retail healthcare industries.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all controllership functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable regulations.

• Develop and execute FP& A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and cash flow management.

• Build and scale the finance and accounting department, integrating financial operations for newly acquired retail locations.

• Manage partnership accounting activities, including consolidations across multiple entities and lease accounting under ASC 842.

• Collaborate with third-party fund administrators and oversee the transition of certain functions in-house as needed.

• Prepare financial presentations and reports for stakeholders, including co-founders and private equity partners.

• Work closely with external tax teams to review tax filings, including K-1s, and ensure compliance with year-end requirements.

• Establish and maintain strong banking and treasury relationships to support the company’s financial operations.

• Provide strategic insights and recommendations to support long-term planning and business growth.

• Ensure the successful integration of financial systems and processes to align with organizational objectives. Requirements • Extensive experience in partnership accounting, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex financial structures.

• Proven track record of working within a private equity portfolio company, preferably in real estate or retail healthcare.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution; advanced certifications such as CPA are highly desirable.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in leadership roles, including Director or VP-level positions.

• Strong foundation in accounting, with prior experience in a Big Four environment and subsequent transition into industry roles.

• Proficiency in FP& A functions, including financial modeling, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

• Dynamic and adaptable personality with a commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment.
