    Purpose of the position

     

    Kalmar USA Inc. (Ottawa, KS) is seeking to fill the position of Director, SmartPort Automation Solutions, Americas. Remote position. Must reside within the Miami metropolitan area in order to travel frequently and on short notice to existing and potential customer locations. Frequent international (40%) and domestic (60%) travel required. Will lead and manage the regional business development, sales, project management, customer liaison, as well as the preparation, delivery and completion of Kalmar SmartPort process automation solution projects throught the Americas region.

     

    Main tasks and responsibilities

     

    Will hold direct personal accountability for the success of strategic new business development and expansion programs, policies, plans and initiatives of the position incumbent's own develoment which must be focused on the achievement of defined volume, profit margin, and market share goals and objectives for the Kalmar Automation Division's SmartPort process automation solutions within the Americas region. Responsibilities will further include overseeing and developing the Kalmar Automation Division's development of sales contracts with maritime port and intermodal container terminals to implement, improve, or expand process automation solutions integrated into their terminal operating systems (TOS) in order to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, safety, security, cost containment, and regulatory compliance of intermodal container handling at their locations. Development of additional Kalmar SmartPort offerings for existing customers throught the assigned Americas region (which includes the north-east half of North America, the entire Caribbean and throughout Latin America). Development of in-depth relationships with end customers throughout the assigned Americas region. Fulfillment of contractual and technical obligations by Kalmar USA regarding Kalmar SmartPort process automation solution delivery contracts entered into with customers located in throughout the assigned Americas region. Identification, interpretation and development of customer requirements for new solution functionality. Planning, coordination and delivery of Kalmar SmartPort process automation solutions to customers to ensure that delivered solutions will meet customer requirements and internal timelines. Communication and resoluton planning regarding customer contact for service, production and supplier issues. Coordination and internal cooperation between the Division's product development, sourcing and operations departments to ensure the successful and timely resolution of customer needs and concerns. Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; $136,000 to $166,000 per year

     

    What you’ll need to succeed

     

    Bachelor’s degree in a field of Naval Science, Marine Engineering, or Maritime Port Management

     

    Five (5) years of experience involving management of the sale, marketing, or business development of process automation software for terminal operating systems (TOS) designed for container port or terminal operations

     

    Two (2) years of experience in marine terminal or port operations involving use of TOS software (such as Navis, Tideworks, etc.) to plan, manage, or analyze the movement of containers;

     

    Fluency in speaking the Spanish language as well as proficiency in reading and writing in the Spanish language in order to regularly verbally communicate in Spanish in addition to reviewing and drafting written correspondence and other business documents in Spanish with Spanish speaking customers and third-party service providers located throughout the Caribbean and Latin America regions.

     

    Must reside within the Miami metropolitan area in order to travel frequently and on short notice to existing and potential customer locations.
