    Description

    We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Property Accountant with experience in commercial real estate accounting to join our team. This position is ideal for a proactive and organized professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and has extensive experience working with Yardi property management software. As a Property Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial management and reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    + Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned commercial properties.

    + Conduct variance analyses and create detailed reports to support business decisions.

    + Accounts Payable & Receivable Management:

    + Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and timely payment.

    + Handle rent collections and tenant payment reconciliations.

    + Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable to ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.

    + General Ledger Maintenance:

    + Maintain the general ledger, record journal entries, and reconcile accounts regularly.

    + Ensure accuracy in all entries related to property operations, depreciation, and amortizations.

    + Budgeting & Forecasting:

    + Assist property managers and executive teams in preparing annual property budgets and forecasts.

    + Monitor budget performance and provide variance explanations to management.

    + Property-Specific Compliance:

    + Ensure compliance with lease agreements, including escalation clauses and CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations.

    + Prepare and submit CAM reconciliations and tenant expense reports.

    + Software Utilization – Yardi:

    + Use Yardi software for property accounting tasks, including database management, reporting, and transaction processing.

    + Ensure data integrity and troubleshoot system-related issues, escalating as needed.

    + Audit Support:

    + Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations of property transactions.

    Requirements

    Requirements:

    + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    + Experience: 3–5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in commercial real estate accounting.

    + Technical Skills: Proficient in Yardi property management software; advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

    + Knowledge: Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles, GAAP, and CAM reconciliations.

    + Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines simultaneously.

    + Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with property managers, tenants, and other stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualities:

    + Prior experience working with Class A commercial properties or mixed-use developments.

    + Familiarity with tax implications for real estate transactions and depreciation schedules.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
