    Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager based in the Tampa area to support a high-impact logistics and export initiative. This contract-to-hire role offers the chance to directly influence operational efficiency and financial accuracy during a period of significant business expansion. The ideal candidate brings a background in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, raw materials, oil & gas, or construction—with proven experience in process implementation, project accounting, and working in fast-paced, documentation-driven environments. This is a full-time, on-site position during the initial ramp-up phase, with the potential to move to a hybrid schedule once key processes are in place.

    Accounting Process Development:

    + Establish and oversee accounting workflows related to raw material intake, outbound shipments, port rentals, and shipping documentation.

    + Manage wire transfers and compliance with Letter of Credit (LoC) documentation, ensuring financial accuracy and timely execution.

    Project & Full-Cycle Accounting:

    + Handle A/R, A/P, journal entries, general ledger management, and month-end close.

    + Track and reconcile project costs tied to logistics and shipping activities.

    + Maintain audit-ready records and financial integrity throughout the project.

    Leadership & Oversight:

    + Supervise and provide guidance to the existing bookkeeper.

    + Serve as the accounting lead, collaborating with operations, logistics, and leadership teams to ensure alignment and accuracy.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    + 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in logistics, manufacturing, construction, or similar sectors

    + Proven success in project or cost accounting roles, including setting up accounting infrastructure

    + Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and Desktop (experience with both is required)

    + Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume documentation workflows

    + Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred
