Description
We are seeking a skilled and analytical Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team in the manufacturing industry. The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate cost records, analyzing variances, and providing financial insights essential to streamline production and improve profitability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP software and a strong understanding of cost accounting principles specific to manufacturing operations, including job costing, inventory valuation, and production efficiency analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Cost Accounting & Analysis:
+ Perform accurate cost calculations for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
+ Analyze and report manufacturing cost variances, including material, labor, overhead, and production inefficiencies.
+ Establish and monitor standard costs, update cost standards as needed, and ensure alignment with production trends.
+ Inventory Management:
+ Partner with operations and inventory teams to oversee and reconcile inventory transactions in NetSuite.
+ Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.
+ Track inventory aging and propose strategies to reduce excess or obsolete inventory.
+ Budgeting & Forecasting:
+ Support the preparation of manufacturing budgets and forecasts by providing reliable cost information.
+ Analyze trends to recommend cost-saving initiatives and support decision-making processes.
+ System Utilization – NetSuite ERP:
+ Maintain and manage cost and inventory data in NetSuite, ensuring the accuracy of system entries for manufacturing operations.
+ Generate reports and dashboards in NetSuite to provide actionable insights to operational and financial leadership.
+ Assist in system upgrades, implementations, or troubleshooting to maximize ERP efficiency.
+ Financial Reporting & Audit Support:
+ Prepare periodic cost, inventory, and profitability reports for management review.
+ Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial standards in manufacturing cost reporting.
+ Provide detailed supporting documentation and explanations for internal and external audits.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration:
+ Work closely with production, operations, procurement, and finance teams to ensure alignment on cost strategies and policies.
+ Offer financial insights to drive process improvements across production and supply chain activities
Requirements
Requirements:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA/CMA certification preferred.
+ Experience: 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
+ Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in NetSuite ERP software: cost management modules, inventory tracking, reporting tools.
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, macros).
+ Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods, and GAAP.
+ Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and strong analytical skills to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
+ Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills to present financial data to both finance and non-finance personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in job cost or project-based manufacturing environments.
+ Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma principles, or cost-reduction strategies.
+ Hands-on involvement with ERP system implementations or process improvements.
