• Staff Accountant

    Robert Half Finance & Accounting (San Francisco, CA)


    Description

    We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in San Francisco, California. This role is vital to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

    Responsibilities:

    + Maintain and update the general ledger chart of accounts.

    + Oversee month-end close activities, including journal entries for accruals, reclasses, deferrals, and prepaids.

    + Collaborate with departments to prepare and record in-kind and trade-related journal entries.

    + Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.

    + Support external audits and tax preparation by providing necessary reports and schedules.

    + Track and report monthly cash flow.

    + Administer payroll operations, including regular and special runs, 401(k) contributions, and PTO monitoring.

    + Handle Accounts Payable, including processing invoices and credit card transactions.

    + Process and manage Accounts Receivable deposits.

    + Ensure financial records, contracts, grants, and legal documents are organized and accurate.

    + Manage annual filings such as 1099s, property taxes, and business registrations.

    + Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.

    Requirements

    + Solid knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles

    + High attention to detail and accuracy

    + Skilled at identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies

    + Experience with non-profit or association financial practices

    + Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines

    + Maintains confidentiality and handles financial data with integrity

    + Proficient in accounting software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office

    + Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required

    + Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred

    + Capable of working independently and managing multiple tasks

    + Compensation based on experience
