Description We’re seeking a well-rounded generalist with sub 10 years’ experience and foundational knowledge in both IT infrastructure and ICS (Industrial Control Systems) who can adapt quickly and contribute to the remediation and compliance efforts, in the Houston area. This position requires attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and customer service skills to work effectively with site owners and technical teams. Ideal candidates are motivated to learn about OT operations while leveraging their IT foundations.

Key Responsibilities: Implement security measures adhering to IEC 62443 standards for LEI’s sensitive sites and energy facilities. Remediate existing issues such as Active Directory (AD) misconfigurations (i.e., passwords that never expire) to improve IT security posture. Support compliance needs for power and energy systems across sites including colleges and hospitals. Support log ingestion activities (understanding tools such as Splunk is sufficient; broader exposure to logging and monitoring will be taught). Assist in securing OT environments through firewalls, backups, and basic cybersecurity practices. Provide administrative support for Active Directory, network configurations, firewalls, and backup systems. Collaborate with site owners and stakeholders to address their IT/OT systems concerns and requirements at sensitive locations. Serve as the key contact for site owners, demonstrating strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Work with LEI’s OT Cybersecurity Manager and local technical teams to review site-specific risks and priorities. As IT/OT generalist, you will receive training related to OT cybersecurity practices and compliance standards. Teaching the OT side to others who may need guidance in cross-functional knowledge is also expected. Requirements

Required Qualifications Relevant work experience across IT infrastructure (network, firewalls, Active Directory, backups). Some exposure to cybersecurity principles such as threat monitoring/log ingestion tools (Splunk knowledge preferred). Foundational understanding of ICS administration is ideal but not required (willingness to learn OT processes is key). Solid knowledge of IT stack including network management, identity access controls, and troubleshooting technical issues like AD password policies. Familiarity with compliance frameworks, particularly IEC 62443. Ability to navigate systems across 8 ICS sites and manage remediation tasks for sensitive locations. Exceptional attention to detail—ability to break down complex problems with precision (e.g., demonstrated through problem-solving activities like Rubik’s cubes). Strong customer service abilities—capable of engaging site owners effectively in technical discussions. Comfortable liaising with stakeholders at a high level without direct C-level interactions. Open to training up for OT cybersecurity processes and industrial control systems knowledge. success driven about becoming a jack-of-all-trades across both IT and OT domains.
