Description
We are looking for an Senior Accountant to oversee the financial operations of a small but growing credit union located in Spokane. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach while contributing to financial planning and risk management.
Accounting Operations
Daily accounting functions including accounts payable, receivables, general ledger entries, and reconciliations.
Ensure the integrity of the financial data and timely month-end and year-end closings.
Maintain and document internal accounting controls and support continuous improvement efforts.
Ensure all financial activity complies with GAAP and ASC standards.
Financial Reporting & Budgeting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related management reports.
Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor budget variances and provide insights to executive leadership.
Support strategic financial planning initiatives as needed.
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance
Prepare accurate and timely NCUA Call Reports and supporting schedules.
Ensure all reports comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
Assist in internal and external audits, exams, and special projects.
Asset Liability & Liquidity Monitoring
Support asset/liability management through data collection, reporting, and analysis.
Participate in ALCO meetings and provide relevant financial insights.
Help manage liquidity needs and ensure compliance with the credit union’s investment policy.
Vendor and Contract Management
Maintain accounting-related vendor relationships, ensuring timely payments and documentation.
Oversee contract management, due diligence, and periodic vendor reviews for financial services partners.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of GAAP, ASC, OFAC, FASB, and relevant NCUA regulations.
Ability to lead, coach, and develop staff in a collaborative, service-oriented environment.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
BENEFITS OFFERED:
-SALARY RANGE: $70,000-$80,000

Requirements
Qualifications
+ Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including supervisory responsibilities.
+ Minimum: Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of relevant experience
+ Experience working in a credit union or financial institution environment is a plus.
• Proven experience in accounting and financial management, with a thorough understanding of GAAP.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and auditing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and budgets.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
