Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance department within the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and improving financial efficiency. Proficiency in SAP is essential as the role involves extensive use of its tools for financial reporting and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
+ General Ledger Maintenance: Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate posting of journal entries and reconciliation of accounts.
+ SAP Utilization: Leverage SAP systems, including SAP FI/CO modules, to streamline accounting processes, track transactions, and generate financial reports.
+ Monthly and Quarterly Close: Perform detailed analyses and prepare reconciled accounts to support month-end and quarter-end close processes.
+ Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, in compliance with regulatory standards and audit requirements.
+ Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to insurance industry accounting standards and regulatory requirements when preparing financial statements and tax reports.
+ Expense Management: Assist in monitoring and analyzing operational expenses; recommend cost-saving opportunities when appropriate.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with the claims, underwriting, and finance teams to provide accurate financial data for decision-making processes.
+ Audit Support: Provide detailed documentation and support during internal and external audits.
Requirements
Requirements:
+ Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to the insurance industry.
+ SAP Proficiency: Hands-on experience utilizing SAP ERP systems for accounting tasks, reporting, and reconciliation.
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
+ Technical Knowledge: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with data analytics tools.
+ Attention to Detail: Proven ability to spot and resolve discrepancies effectively.
+ Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to convey financial information clearly across departments.
+ Understanding of Insurance: Familiarity with the insurance industry's accounting standards, including premium calculations and claim reserves, is a plus.
