Summary of Role:
Factory Automation Engineer (Member of Technical Staff)
GlobalFoundries Fab9 in Essex Junction, Vermont has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated Factory Automation Applications engineer to join our 200mm wafer semiconductor factory (fab) automation team. As a technical leader for factory automation projects at Fab9, you will play a key role in transforming legacy fab operations for automation. Your responsibilities will primarily focus on the development, execution, and subsequent support and improvement of a modernized Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) in a high-volume manufacturing environment. A successful candidate will have extreme attention to detail, demonstrated leadership and communication skills, strong cross-functional engagement and commitment to continuous improvement. We are seeking a passionate mid senior engineer who can lead and deliver complex engineering projects, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate in a manufacturing environment. This role is fully onsite and is a Monday through Friday day schedule.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Partners with internal technical experts, equipment suppliers and industry resources to lead the development and documentation of a modernization plan for the Fab9 legacy AMHS (wafer track) and material storage system including hardware, software, communication network and their integration with fab equipment and controls systems
+ Develops and compares multiple options, including cost-benefit and risk analyses
+ Documents and tells the story, representing investment options and recommendations
+ Drives capital approvals, and manage the project budget
+ Executes the selected AMHS modernization strategy - lead the design development, implementation plan and installation
+ Acts as the Equipment Engineering lead for the resultant system, establishing a support-and-sustain model - integrating internal GF and supplier resources – that is trainable and transferrable to future Maintenance and Engineering personnel
+ Responsibilities also include support and troubleshooting of legacy AMHS systems
+ Contributes to and engages in continuous improvement efforts to enhance system, procedures, equipment availability, utilization, cycle time, cost, etc.
+ Performs all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
+ Other duties as assigned by manager / supervisor
Required Qualifications:
+ Education - bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical/Robotics Engineering, Information Technology/Computer Science, or similar discipline
+ Experience - Minimum 7 years industry experience with factory automation and systems integration
+ Fluent in English language (both written and verbal)
+ Demonstrated experience and skills in equipment data retrieval and analysis
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to describe complex problems, clearly aligning key stakeholders
+ Possesses strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
+ Self-starter, capable of leading and managing complex problems and projects - resourceful, creative and innovative in developing solutions to resolve issues
+ Proven track record of successfully implementing complex projects
+ Ability to lead cross-functional teams, demonstrated excellence collaborating on and across teams
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in mechanical/electrical/Robotics Engineering, Information Technology /Computer Science, or similar discipline
+ 5+ years industry experience in manufacturing engineering
+ Understanding of / experience with semiconductor manufacturing
+ Proficiency with data analytical/statistical tools such as JMP, Excel/Pivot Tables, etc
+ Knowledge of PLC and automation equipment program methods and principles
+ Knowledge of SECS/GEM protocols
Expected Salary Range
$94,300.00 - $175,100.00
