New Patient Coordinator - Radiation Oncology
Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a **New Patient Coordinator** is a valuable member of our team, who provides clerical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a New Patient Coordinator in Radiation Oncology may include the following but are not limited to:
+ Utilizes IT systems relevant to Radiation Oncology operations for data entry, reporting and data analysis.
+ Coordinates the inception of care for the patient in the department of Radiation Oncology this includes; first point of contact for incoming patients, telephone reception, record keeping, preparation and filing memorandum/reports, and photocopies and distributes information as appropriate.
+ Keeps accurate records to ensure scheduling system accuracy.
+ Collection of patient information including but not limited to referring physician, insurance and current address. Receive requested lab work and reports for the department physicians.
+ Communicate with outside physicians and disseminate pertinent information to patients and staff. Request outside reports and maintain accuracy.
+ Schedule in-patient and out-patient appointments.
+ Confirm necessary authorization for treatment.
+ Obtain, verify, and review patient demographic and insurance information to obtain authorization for treatment prior to the start date.
+ Review patient documents for new orders and monitor the task list regularly.
+ Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. Provides cross coverage/back up for the insurance authorization office, as required.
+ All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
**Required Qualifications:** Associates degree and at least 2 years of medical office and/or hospital clerical experience or, in lieu of degree, at least 4 years of medical office and/or hospital clerical experience. Patient scheduling experience. Experience in direct, face to face patient and physician customer service related to healthcare. Experience with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently with excellent time management and multi-tasking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
**Preferred Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience in Radiation Oncology.

+ Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises.

+ Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services
* + Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
+ Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
* + Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
+ Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $45,372 - $53,060 / year.
The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:
+ Location pay for UUP full-time positions ($3400)
