Job Overview:
The Medical Technologist is a Clinical Laboratory healthcare professional who performs complex lab tests that help detect, diagnose, and treat diseases.
Working with advanced instrumentation and biological specimens, the Medical Technologist ensures accurate and timely results to support clinical decision-making.
Qualifications:
Required:
+ Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
+ Graduation from a NAACLS-accredited MT/CLS training program
+ Proficiency in core lab areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology
+ Familiarity with automated lab equipment and LIS platforms
Preferred:
+ 1-2 years in a clinical lab preferred, but entry-level candidates with training may be considered
Certifications and Licenses Required:
+ ASCP, AMT, or equivalent national certification
+ State licensure may be mandatory depending on jurisdiction
+ BLS certification may be preferred in hospital settings
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Shift working, 7-3pm
+ Must be able to cover every other weekend and Holidays as needed
+ Full-Time (FT)
Essential Functions:
+ Analyze patient samples for chemical, hematological, microbiological, immunological, and molecular components
+ Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers
+ Implement quality control protocols and verify accuracy of results
+ Record test findings in Laboratory Information Systems and communicate critical values promptly
+ Follow standard operating procedures for specimen handling and processing
+ Assist with development and validation of new testing techniques
+ Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies e,g, CLIA, CAP, OSHA
+ Uphold safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
