The Executive Director, UOnline Operations (A) provides high-level leadership, strategic alignment, and operational coordination for UOnline. Reporting directly to the Associate Provost, this role is central to defining and implementing UOnline strategic priorities, managing cross-functional processes, supporting external partnerships, and driving measurable impact across enrollment, marketing, academic programs, and UOnline business operations. As a trusted thought partner and member of the executive leadership team, the Executive Director ensures cohesive execution of UOnline’s operational goals within the unit and with the unit’s cross-campus partners. This role requires a visionary yet pragmatic leader who can navigate complex systems, champion cross-functional collaboration, and build infrastructure that supports innovation, agility, and inclusive access in online education.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Leads the UOnline operational strategy and execution for the institutions online programs across graduate, undergraduate, and professional education.
Serves as a thought partner to academic and administrative leaders, aligning operational initiatives with institutional goals.
Identifies growth opportunities, assesses market trends, and supports new program development through data-informed planning.
Oversees the design, implementation, and optimization of processes related to enrollment, student supports, course delivery, academic scheduling, and faculty engagement.
Leads the development of operational dashboards, KPIs, and reporting structures to measure enrollment performance and drive continuous improvement.
Supports the evaluation of operational effectiveness and talent needs across UOnline and OPA in alignment with strategic goals.
Acts as the primary liaison to the project management team to ensure timely execution, coordination, and progress tracking for UOnline strategic initiatives.
Evaluates and oversees vendor relationships, including marketing firms, and tech platforms, ensuring alignment with institutional values and ROI expectations. Acts as the primary point of contact for external vendors, supporting contract negotiations and ensuring accountability for deliverables and strategic value in conjunction with the UOnline/DCIE Business Office.
In partnership with the Engagement Strategist coordinates with the Associate Provost, Senior Directors, and unit leaders to align efforts and track progress. Collaborates with the Executive Director of DCIE & Online Marketing to create, publish, and socialize an annual “playbook” that articulates goals, priorities, and action plans across the division. Leads and inspires a multidisciplinary operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and inclusive excellence.
Works closely with the Associate Provost to assist her with the monitoring of UOnline budgets and financial performance as reported by the UOnline/DCIE Sr. Business Officer and the finance team.
Supports tuition pricing strategies and financial aid integration tailored to online learners. Leads quarterly sessions to articulate unit-wide priorities and ensure alignment with institutional goals and yearly budgets. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policies and procedures.
