General Overview:
The Philanthropy Officer, DCC & UCARE Community Fundraising is responsible for achieving a yearly revenue/fundraising goal and will report to the Executive Director, Development, DCC & UCARE Community Fundraising. The Philanthropy Officer will also work closely with Sylvester’s faculty, directors, and other administrators as well as Miami Herbert’s faculty and leaders in addition to Academy DAR colleagues.
Support the Executive Director in the development and implementation of an annual strategic plan with measurable objectives for corporate sponsorship sales and corporate-focused donors for the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC), UCARE Community Fundraising (UCARE) and DAR corporate conferences which are mainly driven by Miami Herbert Business School. Support will include a comprehensive outreach, marketing and fundraising plan. Regular interaction with Team Hurricanes team, UCARE team and the MHBS faculty to work on the planning and execution of the events with a focus on increasing corporate participation.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Identify prospective donors and funding sources, in conjunction with faculty and staff, and develop cultivation and solicitation plans, involving the aforementioned groups, as appropriate.
+ Ensure regular communications and stewardship with sponsors and donors, including re-solicitations, proper acknowledgement of gifts and pledge payments, reporting, visiting, and providing regular information on the progress of the departments.
+ Maintain communications with colleagues in medical, Academy DAR, Miami Herbert departments and schools involved with the Real Estate conference, to ensure effective collaborations and synergy in achieving the University’s key fundraising goals and objectives.
+ Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s needs, both general and specific to various programs and departments.
+ Continue to maintain and development new relationships to support Miami Herbert’s conferences (Real Estate, Healthcare, Chief Sustainability Officers, Accounting and Blockchain) and others at DAR.
+ Document all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in Raiser’s Edge and other appropriate donor files.
+ Market the DCC, UCARE, and DAR conferences to the South Florida corporate marketplace.
+ Drive corporate team participation in the DCC.
+ Responsible for the sale of Team Hurricanes and UCARE corporate partnerships and assets, in conjunction with the overall strategic sales plan.
+ Build and cultivate an ongoing “pipeline” of corporate contacts and potential sponsors. Maintain an updated accurate corporate customer database.
Measurements of Success:
+ Demonstrate significant and continuous progress toward campaign or multi-year project goals. Dollar goals established with supervisor.
+ Reach departmental yearly cash fundraising goals (team goal). Dollar goals established with supervisor.
+ Make an appropriate amount of substantive cultivation and solicitation actions toward closing gifts. Numbers established with supervisor.
+ Reach individual yearly goals for face-to-face visits, number and amounts solicited and number and amounts funded. Goals established with supervisor.
+ Manage an appropriate number of active prospects and active proposals. Number and amounts to be established with supervisor.
Additional Duties:
+ Participate and attend evening and/or weekend events and activities, as needed, in support of the mission of the University and Division of Development and Alumni Relations.
+ Attend meetings and appropriate training sessions for the Division of Development & Alumni Relations.

Qualifications:
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with one year of fundraising or related experience. Equivalent combinations of education/experience may be considered. Must be knowledgeable about fundraising. Candidate must have an excellent command of the English language; excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as well as strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must be organized, creative, energetic, and assertive. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Exceptional work ethic and commitment are essential. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus. Ability to work some weekends and evenings as needed. Excel, Microsoft Word essential.
