    Who we’re looking for

     

    Toyota’s Automated & Electronics Evaluation IVS4-AEE Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Automated Driving Systems (ADS) & Electronic Evaluation Senior Engineering Manager.

     

    The primary responsibility of this role is to lead a team of engineers in discovering and realizing the next innovative ADS & Electronic technologies collaborating with internal and external partners using modern software and system development best practices.

     

    Reporting to the General Manager of IVS4-AEE, the person in this role will support the AEE department's objective to research, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative ADS technologies.

    What you’ll be doing

    + Establishing a group culture and framework which allows each team member to reach their maximum potential in implementing and evaluating ADAS & Electronic technologies.

    + Maintaining a work environment which allows team members to have fun while developing, evaluating and implementing ADAS & Electronic technologies.

    + Leading collaboration with internal and external partners to define system performance metrics, innovative ways to efficiently evaluate ADAS & Electronic performance, and best in class performance targets to achieve customer satisfaction.

    + Mentoring team members to increase their research, development, and evaluation technical capabilities.

    + Establishing and leading department-level data analysis methods to quickly and efficiently visualize data which can effectively be used in technical storytelling to support department recommendations for ADAS system kaizen.

    + Negotiating hours and budget for annual JRNs.

    + Managing group budgets, targets, and schedules.

    + Implementing business process kaizens to further increase efficiencies and synergies within the group, department, and other internal and external partners.

    + Establish processes to identify new technologies and establishing evaluation methods for them which allow for the accurate prediction and recommendation of the senor’s impact on final system performance.

    + Monitoring and Improving ADAS & Electronic systems as necessary after released into mass production.

    + Implementing business process kaizens to further increase efficiencies and synergies within the group, department, and other internal and external partners.

    + Advanced negotiation for JRs for new technical jobs and various engineering projects.

    What you bring

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering such as mechanical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent.

    + 8 or more years of professional experience.

    + 5 or more years of demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers in design or evaluation projects.

    + Experience designing or evaluating ADAS &/or Electronic systems.

    + History of innovative ideas that you or your team developed into tangible products for internal or external customers.

    + Experience leading internal and external collaboration projects.

    + Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.

    + Experience with ADS &/or electronic platform development.

    + Successful creation and execution of complex planning activity around new ADAS &/or Electronic technology and innovations.

    + Experience of 3 major project cycles for ADAS &/or Electronic systems for vehicle development.

    + Proven ability to define new data analysis methods which result in easy to understand visualized data to support making recommendations though technical storytelling.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.

    + Clear and concise presentation skills, with an eye to international audiences.

    + Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.

    Added bonus if you have

    + Ability to write or modify software code as it relates to data analysis and data visualization.

    + Experience of evaluating ADAS &/or Electronic technologies on the sensor/ECU and system level.

    + Experience troubleshooting prototype ADAS and/or Electronics system on rapid prototype vehicles.

    + Experience or exposure with AUTOSAR and/or ASPICE conventions.

    + Japanese language capability.

    + Experience of communication and negotiation with external organizations such as NHTSA, IIHS for ADAS testing.

    + Completion of ICT in ADAS Evaluation.

    + Master’s degree in engineering or management.
