Job Summary:
The Mission Specialist plays a critical role in supporting mission-critical operations, focusing on the planning, coordination, and execution of specialized projects. This position ensures mission success by leveraging technical expertise, coordinating between cross-functional teams, and ensuring that all operational and mission objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner. As a Protected Band Watch Officer (PBWO, you will be responsible for supporting 24/7 operations at the 4th Space Operations Squadron and Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado. The PBWO provides 24/7 protected watch to support Protected Satellite Communication operations. You will assist in resolving system-related Electromagnetic Interference issues, maintain global situational awareness and facilitate immediate operational responses to satellite anomalies.
Key Responsibilities:
Mission Planning and Execution
+ Plan, coordinate, and execute mission objectives in alignment with company goals.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and logistics, to ensure mission readiness and efficiency.
+ Monitor and manage all mission phases, from planning through execution, providing real-time support during critical mission events.
+ Ensure all mission-related activities comply with regulatory, safety, and operational requirements.
Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement
+ Analyze mission data and provide actionable insights to improve mission performance.
+ Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency in mission execution.
+ Prepare detailed mission reports, including after-action reviews and lessons learned for continuous process improvement.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
+ Act as a primary point of contact for external stakeholders during mission-related activities.
+ Provide training and guidance to junior team members on mission procedures and technical systems.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mission-critical technologies, systems, and methodologies.
Risk Management and Safety
+ Support risk management initiatives by identifying potential operational risks and developing mitigation strategies.
+ Ensure that all mission activities adhere to safety and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering , Aerospace, or a related technical field required, or combination of experience and education.
+ Experience: 2+ years of experience in mission planning, operations, or a related field.
+ Clearance: Top Secret
+ Required Skills:
+ Experience in military satellite operations environments.
+ Strong capability for multi-tasking, along with excellent project and time management skills.
+ Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple missions simultaneously.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective c oordination across teams.
+ Ability to make decisions under pressure and during high-stress mission events.
+ Willingness to travel or work in mission environments as needed.
+ Preferred Skills:
+ Experience facilitating immediate operational impact response to satellite anomalies.
+ Experience performing anomaly assessments to determine aspects of causes and conditions of satellite anomaly with recovery actions for up channel reporting and potential user impact.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to work in dynamic environments that may include fieldwork, technical monitoring, or remote operations.
+ Capability to remain focused and perform tasks during long periods of mission activity.
+ High-paced mission environments, which may include both office and fieldwork settings.
+ May involve extended hours during critical mission phases or in response to emergencies.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
