Job Summary:
Under the broad direction of the Director, Assistant Director, Coordinator and the Radiologist the MRI Technologist will perform MRI scanning examinations on selective portions of the anatomy as requested by the clinician. The MRI Technologist is expected to perform a variety of procedures with the knowledge and ability to apply prescribed protocols for the purpose of obtaining diagnostic quality studies. Must be able to work extended hours to accommodate patient volumes.
Qualifications:
+ Education
+ Graduate of AMA accredited Radiology program or equivalent.
+ Certification/Licensure (including annual requirements)
+ Eligible for, or possession of, a valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
+ Experience (Years/Type)
+ One to three years experience preferred.
+ Equipment (Experience and/or Training)
+ Diagnostic equipment and MRI equipment.
+ Specialized Training
+ 80 hours of MRI training.
+ Computer Skills (Hardware & Software)
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office or windows based system
+ Other Skills and Competencies
+ Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving are required to be successful.
Job Duties and Standards:
+ Performs all mammo scans. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, administration of contrast media, application of immobilization and radiation protection devices according to department policy and procedures.
+ Receives consultation request, checking for special instructions from the requesting physician. Consults with the Radiologist as necessary. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introduces self. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and his/her family if present.
+ Updates patient examination history file, records unusual conditions/limitations, documents examination time, and technique factors, contrast media injections. Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs other paperwork as required.
+ Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room or work station, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.
+ Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Adolescence: 13 - 17 years; Young Adult/Adult: 18 - 64 years; Adult/Middle-Aged: 65 - 79 years; Geriatric: 80+ years
+ Transport patients as needed.
