Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Pre-Admissions Medical Assistant 9MA) to join our team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth and timely prepartion of patients for surgery by coordinating pre-admission requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical office or surgical procedures, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage pre-operative documentation across multiple specialties and providers.

Key responsibilities:

+ Coordinate the pre-admission and registration process for surgical patients, including both pediatric and adult populations.

+ Collect and verify demographic and consent information to ensure accuracy and compliance.

+ Review, compile, and upload pre-operative documentation to the charts, including:

+ + Medical clearances

+ Office visit notes

+ Lab results

+ Imaging reports

+ Medication lists

+ Communicate with physician offices, anesthesia providers, and other clinical teams to gather missing documentation and confirm readiness for surgery.

+ Provide patients and families with clear pre-operative instructions, appointment reminders, and respond to basic procedural questions.

+ Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.

+ Utilize the electronic health record (EHR) system to accurately input and track required documentation.

+ Assist with administrative duties as needed to support surgical scheduling and day-of-surgery readiness.

Qualifications

+ Medical Assistant certification

+ Prior experience in a surgical or pre-operative setting strongly preferred

+ Familiar with EHR systems and medical terminology

+ Strong attention to detail and time management skills

+ Excellent communication skills, especially with diverse patient populations including children and their families
