Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, provide expert-level experience in the repair, calibration and maintenance of medical equipment, instrumentation and support systems used in healthcare deliver. Execute professional-level inventory assessment/audits and preventive maintenance of medical equipment. Provide remedial corrective maintenance and maintain documentation of all service events, tests, and maintenance performed on clinical equipment.
Essenital Responsibilities:
+ Performs biomedical equipment repairs and tests on all new and repaired equipment prior to being put into service. All repairs and tests shall be documented.
+ Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to maintain code compliance. Responsible for documenting the results of all inspections, maintenance and tests.
+ Orders supplies according to established procedures.
+ Assists in training of all hospital staff in the safe use of biomedical equipment.
+ Assists in maintaining the records of all equipment handled by the Plant Operations Department.
+ Provides Technical support on new and replaced biomedical equipment.
+ Responsible for keeping current on new developments in biomedical equipment and systems.
+ Participates in performance improvement
+ Demonstrates knowledge and is able to identify each patient’s age-specific needs to promote a safe environment needed by the patient group.
+ Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards
+ Performs all aspect of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
+ Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
+ Assists Plant Ops manager in Projects as assigned.
+ Assists Plant Ops manager with duties in his absence.
Professional Requirements:
+ Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
+ Completes annual education requirements.
+ Maintains regulatory requirements.
+ Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
+ Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
+ Wears identification while on duty, uses punch time system correctly.
+ Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
+ Attends staff meetings, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
+ Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
+ Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities
+ Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
+ Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
+ Experience in a hospital setting is required, with a strong preference for candidates with direct support experience involving clinical or patient-care equipment.
+ Associate’s degree in electronics or biomedical equipment technology is highly desirable, along with a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. An equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Bio-Medical Certification is required
