This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Health Department
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation at the discretion of management with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
AHD EP Program Logistical and Safety Specialist is responsible for inventory control and management, purchasing, general administrative clerical support, correspondence, and document management, and serves as the Deputy Safety Officer. Logistical duties include but are not limited to, procurement, purchasing, receiving, warehousing, inventory, and control of all EP program related supplies. Participates in the EP Program with the development, exercise, and activation of emergency response plans and activities. Performs a full range of general and clerical administrative duties to support the EP Program staff. This position requires specific fulfillment of duties outlined in the PHEP Workplan related to planning, training, and exercising that promotes readiness to respond in drills, exercises, and real-world disasters.
Additional grant requirements can include the development, attendance, and participation in drills, Tabletop Exercises (TTX), and Full-Scale Exercises to include the deployment of equipment to respond to the three core missions of Mass Care, Mass Casualty, and Mass Prophylaxes. This position will also collaborate with the MCM Coordinator and the EP Planning Coordinator to practice, drill, and model disaster response activities. This position will also be required to learn the WEB Incident Action Plan (IAP) system which is an electronic structure to coordinate emergency response activities and maintain accurate documentation for potential disaster recovery and reimbursement.
The Anchorage Health Department (AHD) engages in the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (AHD) emergency responses and the federal Incident Command System (ICS). This includes training exercises as part of the AHD's Crisis Health Action Team (CHAT) and municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC). In the case of a natural or manmade disaster, AHD employees may be called to engage in emergency operations responses and recovery.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
High school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.
State of Alaska Driver’s License at time of hire
Preferences:
CPR and First Aid
FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800

Military Service Interview Preference :

The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual’s command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
