    What will I be doing?

     

    As Director of Travel Industry, you would be responsible for representing the hotel’s services and facilities to travel industry clients and customers in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability\. This role would report into the Director of Sales & Marketing, and oversees a Transient Sales Manager\.

    Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

    + Respond to sales inquiries from travel industry clients and customers seeking sleeping rooms, meeting space, food and beverage services, etc\.

    + Solicit and maintain relationships with travel industry organizations including, but not limited to, travel agencies, tour companies, travel associations, etc\.

    + Travel to assigned territory to make direct sales calls and to attend travel industry receptions

    + Initiate new sales, prospect and qualify leads and solicit potential clients

    + Correspond with travel agents and participate in leisure and business travel trade shows, sales calls and client events

    + Conduct property familiarization trips and tours and site visits for travel agents

    + Participate in the development of targeted packages and promotions and in the development of a client reward program

    + Determine rates, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, service accounts and analyze lost business for the hotel\(s\), as needed

    + Assist in the development of sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals in leisure and business travel

    + Partner with operations departments to ensure full participation in servicing accounts

    What are we looking for?

     

    In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company\.

     

    + Provide guidance to sales managers and support staff

    + Provide training for administrative support\.

    Mandatory Requirements

    + Hospitality Management experience required

    + Candidates must have a track record of success and a minimum of 5 years in the hotel industry

    + Current or recent business and market experience directing sales for both group and leisure segment

    + Appropriate, professional appearance and presentation

    + Ability to balance workload that involves following up with past third\-party clients & end\-user group contacts, day\-to\-day obligations and growing future business

    + Extremely strong written, interpersonal and presentation skills

    + Strong computer knowledge, with technical ability and/or aptitude to fully useDelphiand Springer\-Miller property management systems\.

    + Able to demonstrate flexibility to the customer and nimble at successfully negotiating business in person, and over the phone

    + Motivated personality who can confirm definite leisure business for the hotel without being “pushy”

    + Team player who fosters good work relationships with a positive mental attitude

    + Very detail\-oriented and desire to proactively assist team members and guests who need help at anytime

    + Must be able to meet or exceed Leisure Sales goals
