Job Description
Under general supervision, the Pharmacist is responsible for coordinating all of the pharmaceutical services of The Heritage Group. The Pharmacist is required to work within general methods and procedures, but they must use considerable independent judgment to adapt and apply guidelines to the pharmaceutical services as needed. The work requires knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations of pharmacies and long-term care payer sources. Perform consultant duties.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
+ Responsible for the management and direction of the Pharmacy personnel and all operations of the pharmacy services. Serves as assigned supervisor to Pharmacy Clerks, Technicians, and Data Entry / Billing Specialist.
+ Responsible for the day-to-day quality of service the pharmacy department provides to residents and clients.
+ Participates in planning and controlling budgets for pharmacy services.
+ Responsible for managing Pharmacy inventory, ordering supplies, and checking incoming shipments to ensure accuracy of order.
+ Responsible for overseeing the accounting related functions, including billing. Ensures the billing is done timely, accurately, and appropriately.
+ Responsible for staff training, quality improvement, auditing, etc..
+ Dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and other health-care products to Health Care Center residents, Retirement Campus Residents, and employees, according to professional standards and state and federal requirements.
+ Answers questions and provides information such as, but not limited to, pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
+ Perform consultant duties as regulated by CMS. Including chart review of meds, med pass observation, facility inspections, follow up of recommendations and all paperwork associated with consultant work.
+ Attend meetings to include antibiotic stewardship, QA, DON meetings, psych club, etc.
+ Help cover in pharmacy during vacations and PTO.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor’s degree, or Doctor, of Pharmacy. Must have New York and Pennsylvania Registered Pharmacist License or obtain before hire. Prior long-term care experience a plus.
+ Proficient with pharmacy computer programs with ability to learn new programs efficiently.
+ Previous experience in Pharmacy insurance billing, including NYS Medicaid and Third party prescription plans.
+ Must be able to meet health assessment requirements, including required testing and health documentation.
+ Ability to lift over 25 pounds at various times as necessary. Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist and engage in repetitive motion for extended periods of time.
+ Computer application skills required.
+ An effective ability to read, write and speak the English language is required.
+ Ability to interact appropriately and professionally with staff, residents, vendors, volunteers and the public in person and via the telephone.
+ Ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations.
