Position Overview:
Mechanical Fabrication Department provides manufacturing services to fabricate, assemble, and process devices for SLAC and other related institutions. Employees install, maintain, and repair accelerator and photon science mechanical and vacuum systems.
The department is seeking a QA Specialist for Cryomodule Welding & Particle Free Installation. Under minimal direction of the supervisor, the QA Specialist works with SME¿s in the development of technical processes associated with the manufacturing, installation and maintenance of accelerator hardware to ensure quality control. The QA Specialist oversees the work of technicians and other staff associated with the group/projects, and provides guidance and identifies training, information, and resources needed to perform work ensuring strict quality standards. In addition, during the manufacturing process, the QA Specialist records and analyzes data to confirm project specifications are achieved.
Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.
Your specific responsibilities will be to:
+ Support the application/development of procedures, training, Inspections, and other quality control processes for welding and particle free installation
+ Develop and manage welding plans for ASME certifications needed for the Cryo Distribution System (CDS), and Qualifications for welding of Cryomodules (CM).
+ Contract third party non-destructive testing for welds as required
+ Schedule activities associated with all welding activities.
+ Support Ultra-High Vacuum Particle Free (UHV/PF) manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of the superconducting radio frequency (srf) portion of the linear accelerator for the LCLSII-HE project. Work will include but not be limited to monitoring and implementing Class 100 cleanroom and quality control (QC) protocols and techniques for shop and field UHV-PF assembly work.
+ Develop resource schedule for the installation of CM Beamline Absorbers (BLA¿s).
+ Maintain particle measurement records for each BLA installation
To be successful in this position you will bring:
+ Bachelor¿s degree in related engineering or scientific disciplines and 3 years of hands-on experience in ultra-high vacuum hardware manufacturing, cleaning, assembly, and installation, or a combination of education and relevant experience
+ Must possess a current Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) credential.
+ Must have experience manufacturing assemblies in ISO 5 & 6 Cleanroom (Class 100 and 1000) environments.
+ Working knowledge of environmental and personnel protocols for performing work in ISO 5&6 Cleanrooms (Class 100 and 1000).
+ Ability to help define and deliver long- and short-term goals for project deliverables.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of end to end project management for direction and control of the manufacturing and production processes.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills to provide direction and control of the field service process for the Laboratory accelerators and/or associated experimental stations.
