    The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.

    General Responsibilities

    The Director of Business Strategy is a key member of the bank's Global Markets team and will have two primary responsibilities. One being Treasury management, financial management, business analytics, business development, coordination with Tokyo stakeholders and strategic project planning and management for MUFG Treasury and two being business strategy and management with respect to the Sales and Trading business including, planning, strategy development and execution. The position reports to the Deputy Head of GMDA / Head of Business Strategy in GMDA.

    Specific Responsibilities

    Treasury Planning

    + Treasury ALM strategies and activities in support of the Bank Treasury internal financial management Treasury performance measurement, such as KPIs, benchmarks, etc.

    + Financial planning, analysis and reporting, business analytics development and measurements.

    + Involvement across MUBK Treasury Finance, Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), and overall business planning and strategic support for Treasury Planning.

    + Partner with Treasury executives on the financial planning, analysis and reporting for all facets of MUFG Treasury's financials: Balance sheet and net interest income; especially in relations to Total Bank strategy and performances.

    + Details will include ALM Derivatives portfolio, Investment portfolio and the Funding portfolio.

    + MUFG Treasury's financials in perspective of the bank-wide balance sheet.

    + Develop and lead MUFG Treasury's financial process: Annual budgeting Monthly and quarterly forecasting.

    + Variance analysis of actual vs. budget and actual vs. forecast.

    + Continual process improvement to increase efficiency and accuracy.

    + Establish and enhance process to find and gather financial and business data, both at Total Bank level and at Treasury level, from multiple platforms and systems.

    + Synthesize and reconcile data to bridge knowledge gaps and provide insight.

    + Plan and manage special projects; especially cross-functional and disciplines, for Corporate Treasury to enhance information exchange and increase synergy.

    Sales and Trading Business Management

    + Assist the Head of GMDA, Deputy Head of GMDA and Head of Business Strategy with execution of the forward-looking three-year business plan (Medium Term Business Plan – “MTBP”).

    + Support Deputy Head of GMDA with execution of business projects and business strategies to improve Global Markets operations including inputs and contribution to global-wide projects.

    + Support FX&LM Trading team and Japanese Corporate Sales team as Business Manager through business strategy development and execution.

    + Work with stakeholders on projects aligned to business to provide guidance and ensure they are delivering as expected.

    + Help in continuous refinement of the product strategy and new product development including negotiation with key stakeholders and Tokyo HQ

    + Apply experiences and learned best practices to the wider business, especially contributing to the transformation projects.

    + Provide commentary of business performance, status of hiring plans, and business initiatives for governance and town hall type meetings.

    + Analyze cost metrics and reports with a view to continuously manage and reduce costs of the business.

    Qualifications:

    + 10 -15 years’ experience in treasury management, financial management, business analytics and project management.

    + Proven knowledge and expertise in treasury management, financial planning & analysis, financial reporting & accounting, key performance indexes development & measurements and sales & trading / secondary markets business management in large financial institutions (experience at both commercial bank and broker dealer will be preferred)

    + Ability to work with large amount of data from multiple platforms and systems.

    + Exceptional quantitative skill/analytical ability.

    + Very strong and proven planning and project management skills.

    + Outstanding communications skills (oral and written).

    + Ability to communicate and partner with multiple management levels and audiences from diverse disciplines.

    + Successful candidate must be highly collaborative and a proven team player.

    + Ability to excel under pressure, producing excellent results under tight deadlines.

     

    The typical base pay range for this role is between $215K - $300K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
