About the Division of Youth Services:
The Division of Youth Services (DYS) provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services that encompass juvenile detention, assessment, commitment, and parole. DYS is the agency statutorily mandated to provide for the care and supervision of youth committed by the District Court to the custody of the Colorado Department of Human Services. The Division operates 15 secure youth centers that serve youth between the ages of 10 and 21 who are pre-adjudicated, sentenced, or committed. For pre-adjudicated youth, the Division is also responsible for managing and overseeing Colorado Youth Detention Continuum programs (SB 91-94), a State-funded, locally administered program that provides services to youth at risk of further progressing into the juvenile justice system. In addition to residential programming, the Division administers juvenile parole services throughout the State.

Description of Job
Purpose of the Work Unit:
The DYS Central Region office provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services that encompass commitment and parole. DYS is the agency statutorily mandated to provide for the care and supervision of youth committed by the District Court to the custody of the Colorado Department of Human Services. Regional Offices are responsible for: Oversight of the region's client management and parole systems; liaison and collaboration with juvenile justice and human services local agencies; representing the division on local collaborative management (HB 04-1451) projects; collaboration and coordination with local judicial districts to administer the Colorado Youth Detention Continuum programs (SB 91-94) detention services programs; and, The development of local resources to meet the needs of youth and families as they transition from residential treatment back to their communities. Client management is an overarching case management system for youth who are committed to the custody of the Department of Human Services, Division of Youth Services. The system functions to guide youth through the commitment continuum from assessment through parole; develop treatment and supervision plans for each committed youth; monitor the youth's progress in treatment through regular contact with program staff; present the youth's community treatment plan to the Community Review Board when community-based programming is prescribed; prepare the parole plan and present the plan and the youth before the Juvenile Parole Board; procure transition and parole services for youth upon community transition; supervise and monitor each youth's progress while on parole; and, advocate for the needs of the youth in their care. In addition, regional offices also negotiate contracts with residential and non-residential treatment providers and monitor those programs for contract compliance and compliance with department and division policies and procedures.
Purpose of the Position:
This position is intended to provide administrative support to the DYS Central Region Office employees. This position also corresponds and works with DYS Central Region Office management supervisors, program assistants, administrative assistants, and other DYS employees across the state to provide additional support and ensure mandates are met and service delivery is uninterrupted.
Job Duties:
+ Support and assist Client Managers and Client Manager Supervisors in a variety of ways throughout the complete continuum of care from the time of new commitment caseload assignments through completion of parole. Works independently to ensure all juvenile confidentiality, Personal Identifiable Information, and Protected Health Information documents, records, and data received and observed are restricted, protected, and safeguarded as required by laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
+ Assisting victims in understanding and exercising their rights as it relates to the Colorado Victim Rights Act.
+ Work independently to ensure all juvenile and legal guardian confidentiality, Personal Identifiable Information, and Protected Health Information documents, records, and data received and observed are restricted, protected, and safeguarded as required by laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
+ Assist in gathering and tracking regional information when needed for reporting functions and other ad-hoc projects and assignments, such as, but not limited to, the Department’s or the Division’s strategic goals and initiatives.
+ Assist in the administrative operation of the office through customer service and office coverage. Maintain a clean and organized office environment.
+ Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Experience Only:
Three (3) years of relevant experience performing administrative like job duties such as: data entry, email and phone correspondence, confidential records management, updating information in complex databases, and other similar sorts of job duties.

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience performing administrative like job duties such as: data entry, email and phone correspondence, confidential records management, updating information in complex databases, and other similar sorts of job duties equal to three (3) years

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Critical Thinking, Decision Making, and Problem Solving - Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions , conclusions, or approaches to problems with minimal to no supervision.
+ C ustomer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction .
+ C ommunication - Of the oral and written English language – experience with oral presentations and public speaking; experience with structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words , rules of composition, and grammar.
+ T echnology and Computers - Experience with software and hardware, data systems, multi-relational databases, Internet, email, and other workplace technology and electronic devices.
Highly Desirable Competencies:
+ Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 Experience - Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint .
+ M icrosoft Office Specialist Certification
+ J ob Knowledge - Previous working experience within Regional Center Operations with the Colorado Division of Youth Services
Conditions of Employment:
+ Be a minimum of 21 years of age, with no felony convictions or history of domestic violence.
+ Possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license.
+ May need to travel to attend meetings, run office errands, or transport vehicles to maintenance shop for repair.
+ Pass C.R.S. 27-90-111 background check investigations.
+ Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and explain why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination, or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
