    The Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology is seeking a **_Research Technologist_** to perform routine lab processes and follow routine protocols in the Norris Lab. The lab is part of a collaborative research program with international partners seeking to better understand mosquito biology, ecology and genomics in the context of pathogen transmission with a focus on malaria. The technologist will spend 50% or more of effort/time dedicated to routine laboratory work, assisting with ongoing investigations, laboratory organization, maintenance, supply logistics and ordering. Other effort/time will be dedicated to coordinating research activities with other teams including international partners, managing IRB and ACUC submissions, and gaining MTA and permit approvals for ongoing and future research.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Perform routine laboratory work involving molecular and genetic approaches and relatively standard molecular biology bench work.

    + Assist other lab members with research protocols.

    + Assist with laboratory maintenance including maintaining lab organization, maintaining reagent stocks, ordering supplies/equipment, arranging for maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and ensuring the lab is compliant with biosafety standards including log sheets.

    + Organize refrigerators and freezers.

    + Assist with research coordination including generating, filing and managing IRB and ACUC applications, as well as MTA permit applications required for the research team.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry or related field.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Some related post-undergraduate work experience.

    + Master’s Degree in biological sciences.

    + A minimum of one year of mouse handling work.

    + Prior lab research experience with molecular biology.

    + Experience with flow cytometry.

    + Expertise or interest in some of the following areas: biology, epidemiology, molecular biology, public health and computational analysis.

    + Experience in infectious disease research, molecular bench work, bioinformatic software for DNA sequence analysis, and IRB applications.

    Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY ($48,360 Targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
