Laboratory Technician - #Staff

We are seeking a _Laboratory Technician_ that will provide support for a research project (75%). The role will require mouse handling and treatment experience, basic science techniques, translational research knowledge and problem-solving skills, and reading of the relevant literature. The Laboratory Technician will be trained by Dr. Vito Rebecca and senior lab members to perform required experiments.
Experiments will involve mouse work, cell culture, genetic silencing approaches, genetic cloning of DNA plasmids, gel and protein electrophoresis, immunofluorescence microscopy, and other cell and molecular biology techniques. The technician will meet regularly with Dr. Rebecca to plan experiments and discuss results and will be expected to present data at group meetings. The technician will also provide laboratory support (25%) including preparing solutions and media following standard formulas and procedures, preparing buffers, reagents, and drug stocks, ordering of supplies, and maintaining mice. Laboratory maintenance also includes maintaining lab organization, arranging for repair and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and complying with biohazard safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or graduation equivalent with some science coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Certificate from a technical institute or internship experience.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, or equivalent coursework.
+ A minimum of one year of laboratory research experience with handling mice (for example, injecting mice, treating mice).
+ Prior experience working with microscopy and/or basic molecular biology is desirable.

Starting Salary Range: $15.40 - $23.25 HRLY ($42,000 Targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
