    The Johns Hopkins University Department of Otolaryngology is seeking to hire a **_Research Program Coordinator_** who will work closely with investigators to implement study procedures that involve capturing complex surgical data in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. The Coordinator will assist with several aspects of clinical research studies including identifying patients that meet eligibility criteria described in the protocol, coordinate with surgeons' OR schedules and study personnel to ensure timely data collection, attend data collection in clinical sites/operating rooms at different locations, participating in data collection in the operating room, collating and organizing patient surveys for different cohort studies, administering and monitoring completion of surveys by patients and surgeons, maintain inventory of study equipment and coordinate purchases, abstract medical data from charts requiring interpretation, and organizing study documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA and IRB regulations and standard research procedures.

     

    Effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency. Efficiently manage time to match work hours with OR schedules (which often begin at 7:30 am) and attend to other responsibilities. Work timings may vary based on need for OR data collection, for a total of 40 hours per week. Please note the duration of this position is eight months.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Actively update supervising study coordinator and/or investigators on participant enrollment and data collection status via verbal and written communication.

    + Take initiative in anticipating and responding to staff and research participants’ needs based on awareness of routine and repeated job functions.

    + Maintain high level of motivation for job functions with positive attitude.

    + Attend regular research group meetings (weekly or monthly).

    + Carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision but seek clarification when needed regarding data quality and integrity issues.

    + This job requires the individual to be self-motivated and to work and solve problems. Manuscript authorship and other research opportunities may be available.

    Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

    + Understands intermediate computer experience (knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential).

    + Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

    + Outstanding verbal and written communication and demonstrated ability to interact appropriately and professionally with surgical collaborators, study participants, and staff.

    + Ability to work both independently with modest direction and as part of a team.

    + Highly detail-oriented and able to problem solve, prioritize responsibilities, and manage several priorities at once.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

    + Proficient with Windows and OSX.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with working in a clinical environment or the operating room is strongly preferred.

    Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/03/CD

    Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY (Targeted Salary $23.75hour; Commensurate w/exp.)

     

    Employee group: Full Time

     

    Schedule: M-F, 8:30am - 5:00pm

     

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
