    The **Fuel Operations Analyst I** is a professional that is responsible for assisting with the purchase, logistics, and accounting of the various fuels (natural gas, petcoke, coal) and bulk materials (limestone) that Cleco utilizes at its power plants to generate electricity. This position will be scheduling natural gas supply on gas transport pipelines and in Cleco’s Energy Risk and Trading system. This position will also enter solid fuel data in several FASD related spreadsheets and assist with processing fuel related invoices. This position will also transact minimally in the gas market while assisting with supply balancing coverage. Will aid in ongoing fuel supply process improvement efforts and contribute to the increased effectiveness of the Fuels Group’s responsibilities. As business needs evolve, the Fuel Coordinator will perform all tasks associated with the role as defined by the Manager.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence

    + Performs gas scheduling functions related to accurate and timely pipeline nominations

    + Utilizes pipeline internet based nomination systems to schedule gas movement and monitor pipeline operational information postings

    + Monitors and resolves volumetric discrepancies; monitors and communicates flow cuts, imbalances and any supply changes

    + Enters and manages nomination data in Cleco’s an internal energy trading and risk system

    + Assists settlements team on pipeline and supplier invoice reconciliation

    + Minimally executes gas supply strategies by participating in a rotational 24/7 duty schedule, covering natural gas supply operational issues.

    + Responsible solid fuel (coal and petcoke) and bulk products (limestone) data entry into appropriate spreadsheets for fuel data verification and ultimate entry into Cleco’s FASD system.

    + Assists with the timely and accurate processing of solid fuel (petcoke and coal) and bulk product logistics (barge and rail) related invoices.

    + Participates in the end of month processes for solid fuel and bulk material products.

    + Utilizes fuel scheduling and purchasing standards, procedures, and processes, providing recommendations for process improvements, as necessary.

    + Supports the escalation of any risk concerning fuel operations duties and responsibilities, to help ensure business objectives are executed and met across the Cleco’s fuel supply.

    + Escalate any fuel operations issues to Fuel’s management, as necessary.

    + Provide communication to their manager to provide updates on fuel operations activities, and identify risks in delivery of gas supply.

    + Support Fuel’s leadership with gas operations activities updates on a regular basis to proactively support business objectives

    Qualifications

    Required Education, Skills & Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering or similar disciplines

    + 0-3+ years related experience

    + Business acumen pertaining to the Utility industry

    + Experience in natural gas scheduling and pipeline operations is preferred

    + Experience in solid fuel commodity and logistics (gas, coal, pet coke) is preferred

    + Advanced level Excel skills are required

    + Knowledge of leading practices for their practice area

    + Planning and project management skills

    + Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job

    + Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
