    JOB SPECIFICS

    The Community Corrections Supervisor coordinates the operations of a unit within the department. This includes supervising staff members, working with individual clients, developing policies and procedures and measuring results.

    DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

    + Over one year beyond minimum qualifications of supervisory or lead worker experience in community corrections

    + Professional mentoring or coaching experience within community corrections

    + Master's degree or continued education beyond bachelor's degree

    + Experience working within a diverse population

     

    SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

     

    ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $93,017.60 to $110,011.20 Annually

     

    HOURS/DAYS: 40 hours per week. May include day, evening and weekend hours. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based upon department needs.

    The Community Corrections Supervisor coordinates the operations of a unit within the department. This includes supervising staff members, working with individual clients, developing policies and procedures and measuring results.

    EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, public administration, sociology, psychology, social work, education or a related behavioral science field of study; and five years of experience in Community Corrections or a related field; and one year of supervisory or lead worker experience.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Please note that Community Corrections Supervisors may perform some or all of the following tasks depending on their areas of expertise.

    Supervise Community Corrections staff:

    • Interview, train and provide work direction to staff;

    • Create staff work schedules;

    • Review staff work for accuracy;

    • Conduct performance reviews; investigate allegations or suspicion of employee misconduct, make disciplinary recommendations;

    • Interpret and communicate County policies for staff;

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local statutes and laws;

    • Modify office procedures; lead staff through changes in processes, services or programs;

    • Monitor reports and case management ;

    • Provide case plan guidance to probation officers;

    • Observe and provide feedback on client visits, reports and condition compliance; and

    • Visit Sentence-to-Serve work sites.

    Maintain policies and procedures:

    • Support research-based organizational changes;

    • Serve as a department unit's Responsible Authority Designee for Data Practices;

    • Monitor conflicts of interest; and

    • Coordinate and develop specialized program plans.

    Provide corrections services:

    • Work directly with clients;

    • Serve as a liaison to many criminal justice stakeholders;

    • Respond to community and victim inquiries or concerns;

    • Authorize and approve apprehension and detention orders;

    • Coordinate placement in Sentence to Serve programs;

    • May serve as arbiter determining offender program participation; and

    • Review and approve client incoming and outgoing transfer requests.

    Participate in Division budget process:

    • Make budget recommendations for staffing, equipment and program supplies;

    • Review and approve accounts payable and receivable; and

    • Monitor various expenditures.

    • Prepare statistical reports, sections of the annual report, and comprehensive plan and other activity reports for the unit.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Work is sedentary in nature and typically performed within the Government Center or satellite offices. Lifting requirement of 15-20 pounds on an occasional basis. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation due to high concentration of compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, calculator, telephone, camera, and copier/scanner/fax machine.

     

    Work interruptions are frequent. There is some pressure associated with dealing with individuals who may be emotionally charged and with project or activity deadlines and details. There is some risk involved in meeting clients at their homes as well as dealing with and calming demanding or intimidating people who are emotionally charged over an issue. Exposures could include bodily fluids.

    Must have own means of reliable transportation for business purposes. Individuals

     

    operating a motor vehicle for County business must possess a valid driver's license.
