    The Department of History in the School of Humanities at Rice University in Houston, Texas, seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Latin American and Caribbean history, perform research, and publish the research in Houston, Texas. A PhD in History, Latin American or Caribbean History, or related field is required.

     

    Applicants should be prepared to teach regularly-offered undergraduate and graduate courses in Latin American and Caribbean history. The normal course load in the School of Humanities is 2:2.

     

    Applicants should use the application portal https://apply.interfolio.com/170054 to provide (1) cover letter, (2) vita, (3) research statement (3 pages max), and any applicable documents such as: teaching statement including evidence of teaching effectiveness and courses you could teach at both the graduate and undergraduate level (2 pages max); a description of how you would contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive learning community at Rice through your teaching, research, and/or service (2 page max); a writing sample of approximately 25 double-spaced pages; and three letters of recommendation.
