Summary The primary purpose of this position as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer is to serve as the Senior ART/Mission Support Group Command at a tenant location responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling the activities and operations of the Mission Support Group. Responsibilities Plan, direct, organize and manage the Mission Support Group program including such areas as logistics planning and readiness, security forces, civil engineering, communications, services and personnel. Formulate goals and objectives and establish policies and plans that integrate organization and functional program requirements, ensuring operations comply with regulatory directives and meet customer needs. Direct, coordinate and oversee work through subordinate supervisors. Advise staff regarding policies, procedures and directives of higher-level management or headquarters. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Group Standard for Administrative & Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level (or other equivalent pay systems) in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position being filled. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained assisting in managing and directing a mission support group and its functions to include communications, civil engineering, mission support, logistics planning and readiness and security forces. AND FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. Knowledge of a variety of logistics functions including but not limited to communications, civil engineering, mission support, logistics planning and readiness, supply, transportation, contracting services, civil engineering. 2. Knowledge of support mission requirements in all areas of base support and safety and security regulations, practices and procedures. 3. Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise a highly diverse staff and workforce through subordinate supervisors. 4. Ability to analyze, plan and adjust work operations of several organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 5. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in relations with labor groups, civic groups, unit organizations, etc. 6. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
