    Job Summary

    Completing MRI exams prescribed by a Radiologist that are completed on/at the posted shift/site once competencies have been acquired.

    Responsibilities*

    + Provide extensive hands-on safety training to personnel involved in surgical cases.

    + Communicate effectively with all professional services during surgical cases.

    + Transfer imaging data from PACS system to devices like Stealth and Stryker navigation, assisting surgeons as needed.

    + Collaborate with Neurology, General Surgery, and paraprofessionals to optimize surgical space and expand MRI use in surgery.

    + Inform appropriate personnel about routine maintenance or issues affecting room availability.

    + Corroborates patients clinical history with procedure, assuring that no contraindication to a safe and/or diagnostic procedure exists and that this information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner and HIPAA disclosure.

    + Positions patient using appropriate hearing protection and immobilizing techniques pertinent to an age specific population, while respecting patient?s ability, comfort, and safety.

    + Apply principles of MR safety for patients, self, and others to provide an MR compatible environment in which to perform diagnostic procedures.

    + Selects appropriate imaging coil and operate MR equipment according to the established protocols.

    + Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.

    + Prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media under the direction of a Radiologist and Department protocol.

    + Provides instruction for patients, students and/or health care professionals.

    + Understands and apply Guest Relation skills. Maintains patient confidentiality.

    + Ensure that the scan rooms and the technologist rooms are stocked appropriately with the necessary items to conduct and safe MRI exam. (IV supplies, Linens)

    + Stay in communication with lead technologists and leadership.

    + Train new staff to meet department requirements.

    + Take on the role of Lead Technologist and PCT when these positions have been acutely vacated.

    + Always maintain a clean and safe work environment.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Graduation from a school of radiologic technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MR) or registration as a Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).

    + 3 years for those who completed formal MRI programs

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience for technologists who became MRI-registered through on-the-job training.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + MROR Experience (Siemens/IMRIS Platform)

    + MRI advanced imaging and research experience.

    + Epic experience

    + IV Experience

    Work Schedule

    40 hours, over 4 days, no weekends, 7am-5pm

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
