    The Henry Art Gallery was founded as Washington State's first art museum in 1926, on the principle that art stimulates inquiry, fosters knowledge, and builds healthy communities. Located on the campus of the University of Washington (UW), Seattle, the Henry is internationally recognized as a pioneer in the research and presentation of contemporary art.

     

    The Henry Art Gallery has an exciting opening for a Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager. This is a part-time (90% FTE), permanent position.

     

    The Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager serves the Henry Art Gallery to oversee and grow the museum’s institutional funding portfolio. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the financial sustainability and impact of the Henry’s exhibitions, programs and strategic initiatives by securing support from foundations, corporations and government sources. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, managing the full lifecycle of grants and writing compelling, mission-aligned proposals and reports.

     

    The Henry’s Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager is crucial to securing financial resources that support the museum’s general operations, exhibitions, programs, staff positions and strategic projects. The incumbent must have expertise in solicitation and stewardship methods for all forms of institutional funders (corporate, foundation and governmental) and be a strong writer, relationship builder and project manager who thrives in a creative and mission-driven environment. The Henry is reliant on philanthropic support to deliver on its mission and achieve goals, as well as ambitious programmatic growth as the museum reaches its centennial in 2027. In recent years, institutional donors have formed the anchor of the Henry’s contributed support, so it is crucial to effectively steward these donors to maintain and increase their financial and advisory support to the museum.

    What You Will Do:** **Grants or Corporate and Foundation Relations Strategy & Management 40%

    • Research and identify institutional funding opportunities from corporate and foundation prospects that align with the Henry’s mission and goals.

    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive grants calendar, tracking deadlines, submission requirements and reporting timelines.

    • Develop project funding plans with income goals and trackable metrics

    • Work closely with the Executive Director, curators and program staff to identify fundable opportunities and articulate institutional priorities.

    • Serve as the primary liaison with foundation and grant-making representatives.

    • Complete contracts, billing and interim and final reports for grants received.

    Proposal Development & Reporting 45%

    • Write and edit persuasive grant proposals, LOIs and reports that communicate the Henry’s impact and vision.

    • Create budgets and in partnership with program, curatorial and exhibitions teams to monitor expenditures for grants

    • Ensure timely and accurate submissions or reports in compliance with funder guidelines.

    • Gather and synthesize information from across departments for proposals and reports, including budgets, program narratives and data.

    • Maintain accurate records and correspondence in the Henry’s fundraising database.

    Stewardship & Relationship Building 15%

    • Partner with the Director of Development to cultivate and steward funders by coordinating site visits, sharing updates and recognizing donors as appropriate.

    • Maintain a strong, first-hand understanding of curatorial programs at the Henry and use this information to match funder interests with museum program priorities.

    • Work closely with the Henry’s marketing team to ensure timely and high-quality stewardship of institutional giving, including reporting, recognition events and publications.

    • Coordinate advancement activity with the College of Arts and Sciences, University Libraries, University Advancement and other related units.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's degree in Art History, Public Administration, or Marketing AND a minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing and management, preferably in the arts or cultural sector.

     

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **What You Bring:

     

    • Proven ability to initiate, cultivate and sustain meaningful relationships with external partners. A strategic and empathetic communicator who can effectively align donor interests with university priorities.

    • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with a keen eye towards detail.

    • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

    • Proficiency with donor databases, grant portals and Microsoft Office.

    • Passion for contemporary art and the Henry’s mission of centering artists who challenge norms and expand perspectives.

    • Commitment to equity and inclusion in fundraising practices..

    What You Can Expect:

    •Hybrid work schedule of two days in the office per week.

    •Cubicle/open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions.
