    The Vice President, Brand Experience & Strategic Communications is a forward-thinking leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing The Mutual Group’s brand identity, voice, and reputation. This strategic leader will drive the development and execution of integrated brand and communication strategies. With accountability for delivering a consistent, high-impact brand experience, this role oversees brand strategy, storytelling, public relations, executive communications, and internal messaging—ensuring every interaction reinforces a unified, purpose-driven narrative and measurable brand value. At its core, this role is about building meaningful connections that foster trust, deepen loyalty, and drive shared purpose across members, employees, and stakeholders.

    Accountabilities:

    Brand Leadership

     

    + Define and evolve The Mutual Group’s brand experience, positioning, architecture, and visual identity.

    + Ensure a cohesive and consistent brand presence across all channels and experiences, reinforcing trust and recognition across all stakeholders.

    + Champion a purpose-driven brand strategy that differentiates The Mutual Group in the market.

    + Constantly scan the market to ensure The Mutual Group stays ahead of emerging trends in brand, media, and communications (e.g., AI-generated content, personalization).

     

    Corporate Development Support

     

    + Support M&A and strategic partnership initiatives through the development of brand-aligned collateral, communications planning, and messaging strategy.

    + Contribute to the narrative and storytelling for dealmaking, capital formation, and investor communications to reinforce brand alignment and enterprise value.

    + Partner with executive leadership to increase exposure and visibility in key external forums, media, and stakeholder engagements.

    + Collaborate with the Corporate Development team to craft compelling pitch and positioning materials for prospective members, partners, and strategic stakeholders.

     

    Strategic Communications

     

    + Lead enterprise-wide communications strategy, including executive messaging and thought leadership.

    + Accountable for crisis communications including reputational risk management and real-time response strategies.

    + Develop and oversee internal communications that foster employee engagement and cultural alignment. Ensure alignment of internal culture and external brand perception.

    + Serve as trusted advisor to senior leadership on brand and communication matters.

     

    Member and Market Engagement

     

    + Develop and amplify narratives and storytelling to foster emotional connection and lasting member loyalty.

    + Collaborate with corporate development, marketing, digital, and product teams to align messaging with member needs and business goals.

    + Build brand and communications dashboards to appropriately leverage insights and analytics to monitor brand health, track sentiment, and inform strategic adjustments.

     

    Team Leadership and Collaboration

     

    + Lead and mentor a high-performing team of brand, content, and communications professionals.

    + Champion cross-functional alignment to ensure brand and communications strategies are appropriately embedded across the enterprise.

    + Manage external agency and vendor relationships to ensure quality and alignment.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.

    + 10+ years of progressive experience in brand strategy, marketing, and communications.

    + Proven leadership in a purpose-driven or member-based organization (financial services or insurance preferred).

    + Track record in insurance, fintech, or B2B services

    + Comfort with PE-backed or high growth environments

    + Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate thoughts into vision, and vision into action.

    + Ability to translate complex or ambiguous ideas into clear, compelling messages.

    + Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change.

    + Strategic expertise in brand architecture, positioning, and identity systems.

    + Exceptional storytelling, writing, and executive communication skills.

    + Experience with brand measurement tools (e.g., brand trackers, sentiment analysis platforms).

    + Proven expertise in internal, external, and executive communications.

    + Ability to support organizational transformation through clear, empathetic messaging.

    + Strong narrative development skills across platforms (digital, print, video, etc.)

    + Confident communicator with the ability to influence across all levels.

    + Experience managing teams, budgets, and cross-functional initiatives.
