    As the Narcotic Inventory Pharmacy Coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of drugs in a cost-effective manner and act as a liaison with suppliers and drug representatives to ensure adequate supplies and pricing.

     

    Caregivers in this role will work three days one week and two days the following week at Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center. Every sixth weekend will be worked at Akron General. Caregivers should expect consistent shifts Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm, and weekend shifts from 5:00am to 1:30pm.

     

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Maintain optimum stock levels of all medications by reviewing and/or ordering inventory daily.

    + Interact with automated dispensing cabinets to ensure inventory is adequately stocked.

    + Generate and transmit purchase orders, including CSOS orders, by using an electronic ordering platform to procure items from wholesalers and direct accounts.

    + Follow up on lost shipments or erroneous orders.

    + Receive inventory from the wholesaler and direct vendor in a timely manner using the applicable electronic platforms (Rfxcel, Lawson and ABC passport).

    + Obtain stat medications from suppliers, (i.e., wholesalers, other institutions, etc.) as needed and search for alternate sources for items when backordered.

    + Code invoices and forward them to appropriate personnel for correct posting and proper payment.

    + Prepare returns, outdated medications, and drug recalls with accompanying paperwork to ensure correct and prompt credit.

    + Maintain pharmacy purchasing records, files, and reports as required by law and CCF policy.

    + Prepare and process controlled substance paperwork and forms for ordering and transferring narcotics for all entities utilizing AGMC pharmacy services.

    + Maintain all applicable controlled substance records as required by law.

    + Assist with packaging of bulk medication products that is not available in unit dose packaging.

    + Perform quarterly audits of controlled substances in applicable area.

    + Help to investigate, document, and resolve controlled substance discrepancies. Issues should be reported to the management immediately.

    + Replenish medications and maintain appropriate documentation for EMS squads and crash carts.

    Minimum Qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + High school graduate or equivalent

    + 12-18 months of pharmacy operations and inventory experience

    + Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 90 days. Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Technician Trainees must be registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician within 90 days

    Preferred Qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Narcotics Technician experience

    + Extensive Pharmacy Technician experience

    + Buyer experience

    Physical Requirements:

    + Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.

    + Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job.

    + Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

    + Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
