    Summary:

    At Meta Reality Labs, we're seeking an Electrical Engineer on our VR, AR, or New Technology Team, you'll play a key role in designing, building, and testing prototype electrical systems for future consumer experiences within Meta's family of products. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, optical, firmware, software, and research experts, to explore new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. We're looking for skilled Electrical Engineers with experience in high-volume consumer products or developing technology-leading prototypes to inform Reality Lab's roadmap. As a technical authority in multiple areas, you'll drive innovation by inventing technologies to solve complex problems. Your skills will contribute to setting internal and industry standards for Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) products. To succeed in this role, you'll need to deliver value that drives business outcomes, influence others to achieve results, and demonstrate technical judgment.

    Required Skills:

    Electrical Engineering Leader Responsibilities:

    1. Drive the development of highly complex electrical systems, ensuring alignment with product goals and driving initiatives for improved quality and efficiency

    2. Lead electrical architecture definition and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring a clear understanding of system-level specifications and their translation to module and component levels

    3. Design schematics, specify components, direct board layout, lead system-level design reviews, and manage Signal Integrity and Power Integrity trade-offs in miniaturized systems. Participate in device assembly, testing, and debugging

    4. Effectively communicate complex features and systems

    5. Develop an in depth understanding of organizational and company goals, industry trends, and engineering strategies to drive the EE team's technical direction and product roadmap

    6. Work across engineering disciplines (electronics, mechanics, optics, sensors, haptics, firmware, and software) to develop systems and manage trade-offs

    7. Collaborate with suppliers to influence their roadmap, uplevel their skills, and ensure deliverables align with the product roadmap

    8. Thrive in a distributed team environment, contributing to building and sustaining internal Meta community through recruitment, mentorship, and collaboration

    9. Travel domestically and internationally as needed, informing prioritization of work across teams and disciplines, and actively participating in resolving technical conflicts

    Minimum Qualifications:

    10. BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

    11. 12+ years of industry experience in electrical design

    12. Foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals

    13. Proficiency with schematic and board design tools (e.g., Cadence OrCAD, Altium)

    14. Experience with test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators)

    15. Familiarity with multiple technologies: digital signal processing, real-time image processing, display engineering, camera modules, mobile SoC and PMI, and battery management system

    16. Proven leadership skills: leading technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors

    17. Effective technical communication skills

    18. Expertise in: High-speed signaling (MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY, PCIe, USB SS, UFS), IMU/sensor systems and calibration methods, vision and audio systems, programming languages (Python, C/C++), and circuit design (Verilog/FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, firmware, programmable logic)

    19. Experience with: HDI flexible and rigid substrate design for high-volume, cost-optimized applications, manufacturing test development for consumer products, and system architecture definition based on product specifications

    20. Background in Consumer Electronics and/or mass production environments

    21. MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

    22. 15+ years of industry experience in electrical design

    Public Compensation:

    $204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
