Job Summary:At MaineGeneral WIC, we're on a mission to enhance the well-being of approximately 2,600 families each month. We value the power of genuine connections and the positive impact they have on fostering healthier lives.
In this role, you will provide nutrition education to all WIC clients in accordance with the State's WIC guidelines. Education is tailored to each client’s nutritional status and risk criteria, while being sensitive to lifestyle, income level, and family dynamics.
Job Description:
This position is currently scheduled for 32 hours per week, with potential to transition to full-time later this fall.
Responsibilities include:
+ Implementing WIC program policies with care and accuracy
+ Maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity during assessments
+ Providing nutrition education that is culturally and personally appropriate
+ Addressing nutrition, health, and breastfeeding concerns professionally and empathetically
+ Using evidence-based counseling techniques to support behavior change
+ Documenting nutrition and health assessments clearly and thoroughly
+ Creating individualized nutrition prescriptions
+ Offering appropriate referrals
+ Collaborating with families to establish realistic, achievable goals
+ Conducting outreach clinics to expand community access
+ Engaging with community partners and supporting outreach efforts to maintain client participation
Qualifications:
+ Education in nutrition, health, or a related field
+ Licensure or registration as a Dietary Technician preferred
+ Knowledge of evidence-based nutrition and health practices
+ Familiarity with breastfeeding support and promotion
+ Strong communication and counseling skills
+ Ability to conduct clinical assessments and tailor recommendations
+ Flexibility to adapt to changing program needs
+ Passion for providing excellent client care
