**Pay Range:** $20.19 - $31.80 per hour

Summary:
In addition to performing the duties of a Diagnostic Services Tech, the clinical instructor is responsible for being the point person for all schools that have clinical affiliation agreements with the department in their specific area. This includes attending all required affiliate school meetings, providing all documentation required by the school, processing all assigned students with Volunteer Services, providing oversight of the students while performing their clinical hours in the department, coordinating and managing the clinical rotations of the students and assessing the students for potential hire by the department. Additionally, the Clinical Instructor collaborates with the Section Supervisor in managing the education, competency and orientation programs of staff for their respective section/modality. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:
- Licensure/certification relevant to the area of responsibility
- Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – BLS from American Heart Association preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the field.
- Excellent patient care, customer service and interpersonal skills consistent with ICARE/ICONNECT guidelines
- Solid communication and analytical skills
- Solid leadership skills
Physical Demands:
• Requires full range body motion including handling and lifting patients when necessary.
• Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Responsibilities:
1. Meets all job requirements of a Diagnostic Services Tech. Assumes daily work assignment similar to all other staff within the modality.
2. Point of contact for all schools that have clinical affiliations for student placement in their modality.
3. Attends all meetings or committees as required by the clinical affiliates.
4. Onboards all assigned students as per Volunteer Services and RUMC guidelines.
5. Oversees and manages all students assigned within their modality.
6. Solicits feedback to ensure the highest standards of quality and professionalism are being applied by the students. Independently evaluates performance of to assure excellence of service, positive morale and consistency with the patient and family centered ICARE/ICONNECT principles
7. Acquires and submits to Director the resumes and contact info for all students assigned to the department for their clinical hours.
8. Identifies high performing students and collaborates closely with section manager to establish interviews for possible hiring. Assessment and interviews to be performed while student is still completing their clinical hours in the department.
9. Provides feedback and grades to schools as defined by school guidelines and expectations.
10. Collaborates with the section supervisor in development and implementation of the orientation program, assembling of the documents, coordinating the learning activities, creating and grading the competencies, and reporting results to department management; identifies weaknesses in new employees, provides corrective educational programs, recommends continued employment or termination during the new hire trial period. Evaluates the effectiveness of the orientation program.
11. Collaborates with the section supervisor in coordinating the educational opportunities offered through the department, provides continuing education both directly as an instructor and indirectly by using educators other than his/herself, provides education on all shifts, and evaluates the effectiveness of the education program.
